Thanks to the efforts of Lake Louise Hotel owner George Schwarz, the wine list at the Post has become one of the most comprehensive in the country and continues to impress dining room guests.
Since 2002, Wine Spectator, the authoritative wine magazine of North America, has awarded the Post Hotel its highest honour – The “Grand Award”. One of only four restaurants in Canada to achieve this recognition, which is regarded as the pinnacle of restaurant success worldwide.

George embarked on his lifelong passion for fine wine at a young age. Growing up, wine was always on the dinner table – it was part of the Schwarz family lifestyle. “We were very fortunate; continually being exposed to the good life. I have very fond memories of being 14 years old and travelling with my dad on wine buying trips to Châteauneuf-du-Pape – what an experience that was! Our love for food and wine … well, in addition to his appreciation for wine, our father was also an exceptional cook – we were the lucky beneficiaries.”
