On January 9, join us for an extraordinary evening celebrating the 60th anniversary of Robert Mondavi Winery, a milestone in the Napa Valley’s legacy of fine wine. This is more than a dinner; it is a journey through time, terroir, and craftsmanship, brought to life through rare vintages, some drawn from Post Hotel & Spa’s own cellar. The evening pays homage to a winemaker whose pursuit of excellence reshaped the world’s perception of California wine and inspired generations of vintners to follow.

Hosted by Master of Wine Eugene Mlynczyk, the experience will feature four decadent courses paired with exceptional vintages, large formats, and rare back-vintages from the Robert Mondavi portfolio. As each pairing unfolds, guests will discover how Mondavi’s vision of harmony between tradition and innovation continues to define Napa Valley’s finest wines six decades later.

The Mondavi Legacy

Robert Mondavi’s influence on California wine cannot be overstated. Founded in 1966, his vision was to position Napa Valley wines on the world stage. Guided by a deep respect for the land and an unwavering belief in craftsmanship, he championed techniques that were innovative for the time, from careful vineyard selection and small-lot fermentation to the thoughtful use of French oak. His approach shaped a new era for California winemaking, one defined by precision, elegance, and a sense of place.

A true pioneer, Mondavi also brought creativity and curiosity to every bottle. In 1968, he introduced a dry, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc under the label “Fumé Blanc”, a wine that quickly became emblematic of the region’s fresh, expressive style. His Cabernet Sauvignons, particularly from Oakville, set new standards for balance and longevity, earning Napa Valley its reputation for world-class reds.

Over the decades, Mondavi wines, especially their elegant Cabernet Sauvignons, have become benchmarks of Napa appellations, often prized for their balance, depth, and sense of place. From the barrel-aged elegance of his pioneering Fumé Blanc to the refined structure of the Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and the signature balance of the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, each bottle reflects a philosophy rooted in artistry, innovation, and respect for terroir. As the winery celebrates its 60th anniversary, it remains dedicated to that same pursuit of excellence — blending tradition and evolution in every vintage.
